Taking a ride on the Christchurch Gondola

Out and about on the gondola yesterday and even remembered to take the camera ;) Crisp and clear day ( a bit hazey in the distance though ) ... needless to say here's some views up high and above Christchurch, New Zealand ...

Over the other side at the top, looking down onto Lyttelton Harbour (which is volcanic - but very much asleep) ...

Along the ridge of the Port Hills ....
(the eastern side of Christchurch) .. this is literally all just a 15 minute drive from where we are living, in fact we look up to these hills from our lounge window.

And way over there in the distance (about 1 hour drive away) is the southern alps, well the base mountains of the southern alps anyway .. think 'Lord of the rings' mountains ;)

Tomorrow it's Orana wildlife park .. time to go hand feed those hungry giraffes!
